Purpose: The current study aims to provide a framework for evaluating the large projects based on the sustainability dimensions and with agility approach using data envelopment analysis.Methodology: To this end, sustainability indicators, agility indices in project management and project management critical success factors are identified. By calculating the large projects efficiency numbers in each of attitudes include financial, social and environmental, three dimensions of sustainability and by drawing a regional graph based on the projects’ efficiency numbers in both attitudes of agiliy and project management critical success factors, the project performance is studied in both attitudes. Findings: Graphs and efficiency results in sustainability attutudes show that among 27 projects, just three projects are efficient in all three attitudes. In addidtion, to deliver product/service in the shortest time is the meaning of delivering value to the customer with extending the agility in project management. Also, to protect the resources for the next generation, project manager can dedicate the financial and social resources in order to control the environmental impacts of the projects in parallel with the sustainable development principles which which can be translated to be responding efficiently and effectively to the customers while meeting the requirements of the sustainable development. Originality/Value: The project as a temprory organization should be managed in such a way that while adapting to the changes and being agile in responsiveness, it also keeps the time range, cost and qulity for delivering the created product/service. Agility has been proposed as an approach to gain and keep the competitiveness in a changing and unpredictable environment and it focuses on meeting customers needs while sustainability attitude does focus on the reduction of the udesireable affects of the meeting customers demands. To integrate these two concepts in the field of project management leads to the efficiency and success of the project, comprehensively.

The models of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based on Goal Programming (GDEA) seeks to address some drawbacks of classical DEA by increasing the degree of resolution and providing real weights to Decision-Making Units (DMUs). Experimental results indicate that the GDEA models do not completely cope with these in some cases which are tested. Also, in calculating the optimal solution with different methods of evaluating the efficiency of units, we are faced with a group of Pareto optimal solutions that make a decision maker facing a serious challenge in choosing the most appropriate solution. To solve this, in the first step, this paper uses the concepts of fuzzy logic and then proposes the F-GDEA approach based on fuzzy logic in solving the GDEA models, which increases the resolution of the methods to rank the units. In the second step, by using the F-GDEA approach, we propose a new hybridized fuzzy approach called HF-GDEA for short, taking into account the various ranking results from the different programming models. With this new proposed approach, we combine the rankings obtained from different methods and present a new ranking for the DMUs. In other words, the HF-GDEA approach makes it possible to compare and thus select an optimal solution from Pareto's optimal solutions set. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to two practical examples and their numerical results are presented.

Data envelopment analysis is a suitable and useful technique for measuring and evaluating the efficiency of decision-making units. This technique is also an effective tool in evaluating the efficiency of units in auditing. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to evaluate the efficiency of audit firms in terms of audit quality by using data envelopment analysis. Theoretical foundations and data of this study are based on library studies of the pharmaceutical industry of companies listed in the Tehran Stock Exchange. In this study, the output variable is audit quality and input variables include the number of partners of auditing firms, audit fees and auditing hours. The results, using the cross-functional method of data envelopment analysis, show that Behmand, Azmoodeh Karan and Arvin Argham Pars have the first to third ranks in terms of efficiency. Evidence from this study confirms that data envelopment analysis can be used as an appropriate method for analyzing the efficiency of audit firms in in order to assess the quality of auditors' work to support investors by financial analysts and capital market policymakers.

Research has revealed that Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is an excellent method of data-based performance analysis for comparing decision-making units with multiple inputs and outputs. Selecting inputs and outputs (performance measures) in DEA is a delicate task. In principle, including a large number of inputs and outputs is a positive advantage. However, the inclusion of multiple inputs and outputs might translate into a great deal more of additional data being included, and this may lead to some decision-making units being considered and designated as efficient simply because of their high performance in relation to a number of redundant and useless variables. Elsewhere, in some situations, some performance measures can play both an input and output role. These performance measures are called flexible measures or dual-role factors. Even though models have been developed for working with such dual-role factors, this paper proposes performance appraisal from both an optimistic and pessimistic perspective for selecting a third-party reverse logistics provider in the presence of multiple dual-role factors. A numerical example illustrates the application of the proposed approach.

In recent literature, many studies have been performed on DEA performance evaluation of systems with two-stage network structure. One of the topics of interest to researchers is the study of the progress or regress of production over separate time periods in the two-stage network structure. The Luenberger productivity index is one of the techniques introduced in this field. However, the calculation of output or progress in the two-step network in the presence of undesirable intermediate products and uncontrollable input data has received less attention. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of the presence of undesirable intermediate products and uncontrollable input data in evaluating the performance of two-stage series-structured network systems when discussing the progress or regress of production systems during different periods of activity. For this purpose, in this paper, we introduce a new directional distance function and propose a method to solve this model that is not problematic in the adjacent time periods. Then, we present a three-stage algorithm to calculate the Luenberger productivity index in a two-stage network with the presence of these data. Finally, with an example, we show the applicability of the proposed algorithm.

One of the most important tasks of an organization manager is to evaluate the performance of the units within the organization because only the performance evaluation can inform the manager about the extent to which the organization has stepped toward the goals established to achieve it so that the manager can identify weaknesses, and poor performance of his organization take corrective action and improve the performance of his organization. In this regard, this study has evaluated accurately and inaccurately the relative performance of 11th-grade nongovernmental schools in Sistan and Baluchestan province. There are various methods for assessing the performance of organizations. One of the most important of these methods is data envelopment analysis technique which by comparing the efficiency of organization units with each other separates efficient units from inefficient units. Selection of inputs and outputs in this study was done according to similar research and interviews with experts. In this study, the relative efficiency of 55 of 11th grade nongovernmental Schools in Sistan and Baluchestan province was calculated by using data envelopment analysis for the academic year 1395-1396 and the efficient and inefficient units were identified, then the performance of these schools is presented by a fuzzy interval based on the technical efficiency and the subjective efficiency and finally ranked.

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a technique for evaluating homogeneous decision-making units. In this method, the efficiency score for each unit is obtained by comparing the performance of each Decision-Making Unit (DMU) with the performance of the other units. This performance score can be used as a criterion for ranking units. In many cases, a significant number of units are efficient, and therefore, the efficiency of the classic DEA models cannot be a good criterion for accurate ranking of DMUs. In this study, a method for ranking DMUs using their efficiency is presented in several time periods, so that three types of production possibility sets are introduced. In the first type, for each time period, an independent production possibility set is defined, in the second type, a combination production possibility set is used for all time periods, and in the third type, a community production possibility set is created, which considers all time periods. Then, corresponding to each type, one efficiency number is obtained for each DMU. Therefore, the three values of efficiency resulting from the three methods are combined using the Shannon entropy method and define a general performance criterion for each unit. This criterion is ultimately considered as the main indicator for ranking units.

Nowadays, sustainable development is the most important issue in the economic development of countries. To achieve sustainable development, countries must pay special attention to environmental aspects. Environmental aspect focuses on ecosystem stability and maintenance of ecologic functions. To make countries more sustainable, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission should be reduced and controlled. Cap and trade approach is one of the most effective approaches in controlling GHG emissions. In the cap and trade approach, the total amount of emissions are decreased by reallocating emission permits to countries. The objective of this paper is to propose a centralized Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model to reallocate emission permits in the cap and trade system given countries’ efficiencies. Our model evaluates efficiencies of countries in the presence of discretionary and nondiscretionary inputs to reallocate emission permits. The fuzzy set considers uncertainties in parameters. Also, this paper determines the amount of emitted gases that can be reduced without reducing other outputs. A case study demonstrates the applicability of the proposed model. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to investigate the impact of parameters’ variations on results.

Multi-attribute decision-making is a powerful and widely used method of solving decision-making problems and choosing the most desirable of the available options. Data envelopment analysis is a nonparametric method for calculating performance size. The basic drawback of conventional decision-making methods is that they are not capable of taking into account decision-making priorities and preferences as well as risk-taking or risk aversion. On the other hand, in some cases, it is difficult to determine the exact amount of data and the results are qualitative and quantitative. The weighted average method is classified as one of the decision-making methods that are capable of considering the priorities and subjective evaluations of the decision-maker in the decision-making process. This paper deals with one of the ranking methods in data envelopment analysis called cross-efficiency and tries to consider the decision-makers' risk-taking and risk-aversion in consolidating cross-performance matrix members as well as in the cross-efficiency integration process.

One of the most important issues in data envelopment analysis is the determination of the return to scale class of decision-making units. One of the structures of decision-making units is the two-stage network structure. In this research, we obtain the return to scale class of decision-making units with two strategies. The first strategy is when each stage performs independently, and the input and output of each stage is important for it, the return to scale class is assigned corresponding to each stage and the overall process with this strategy. In the other case, we define the two-stage network structure as the leader and follower model, and the output of the first step is considered as the input of the second stage, in which case the return to scale class is determined based on the output ratio of each stage to the input of that stage. The second stage output to the first stage input ratio is used to determine the return to scale class of the final process. Determine the relationship between the return to scale class and the first and second stages, and provide sufficient conditions to determine the return to scale class. Finally, we illustrate the proposed approach with a numerical example.

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a method based on linear programming to measure the efficiency of Decision-Making Units (DMU). In classic models of DEA, the whole system had been usually considered as a Decision-Making Units to evaluate respective efficiency and it is also ignored the separate processes inside the system. Whereas, the internal relations of various sectors of a Decision-Making Unit can have had diverse structures which cause complexity in evaluating its efficiency, because, the type of structures and the performance of these components would have different effects on efficiency of the system. Network standpoint is one of the appropriate ways for the internal relations of units’ modelling and the relation among sub-units in a DMU may be communicated in series, parallel or mixed way. In this paper, a new convert called Star Structure was introduced as a comprehensive one. The one that every structure existing between a Decision-Making Units’ sub-units can easily be converted to such structure so that can accurately evaluate a Decision-Making Units’ efficiency and also using star structure, we evaluated the performance of regional electronic companies in Iran.

In recent decades, as a result of the global economic growth and the development of investment, extensive researches have been carried out in the field of ranking companies, Data Envelopment analysis (DEA) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP ) are the most important methods in this field, However, perhaps the most notable method is DEA/AHP which is, in fact, the combination of the mentioned ones. This method utilizes the strengths of DEA and AHP to rank the decision-making units (DMUs) in a company. The aim of this study is to provide a rating of cement companies operating in the stock using improved methods DEA / AHP is. The results of the research show that in 1391, Isfahan, Bojnoord and Qaen cement companies took the first to third places, but in 1392 these places belonged to Abyek, Isfahan and Cazroon companies. Therefore, it can be concluded that while using the improved integrated DEA and AHP method, not only the companies with higher efficiency are placed in higher ranks, but also, the inefficient companies are ranked effectively.

One of the problems in portfolio selection, is choosing a stock with conflicting and incomparable objectives such as return and risk. DEA cross efficiency is one of the most useful tools in assessing performance and prioritize a number of firms that makes it possible to determine efficient units in portfolio selection from different industries. Although cross efficiency is an approach for evaluating performance, it application is improved in portfolio selection. The method used in this research, calculates the (average) cross efficiency scores and considers its changes and then incorporates two statistics of cross efficiency into the mean-variance (MV) formulation of portfolio selection. This method has two advantages: One is selection of portfolios well-diversified in terms of their performance on multiple evaluation criteria, and the other is alleviation of the so-called ‘‘ganging together’’ phenomenon of DEA cross-efficiency evaluation in portfolio selection. This procedure is applied on stock portfolio selection in the Iranian stock market consist of 20 reputable companies and efficiency changes with causes over this period is examined. It is demonstrated in this paper that the selected portfolio yields higher risk-adjusted returns than two stock market index for a 9-year sample period.

In order to evaluate these types of units, the network data envelopment analysis method is used. In this paper, Two-stage units have been investigated, which in the two-stage process are the outputs of the first stage of the second stage inputs, which are referred to as "middle sizes".The purpose of this research is to determine the most effective scale of the production unit scale using a two-step process based on the demand level. In this regard, while determining the units of MPSS with ordinary DEA methods, we will generalize it in two-stage models. Then, the maximum and minimum amount of production, the production units that are in the most efficient scale of the scale, are obtained at each of the stages separately and then generalized for the whole process. We consider supply and demand as two output indicators and we determine the demand level for each step separately and then the whole process so that we can obtain the maximum and minimum amount of demand.

Banks are among the economic centers of the country, whose performance regarding promotion of productivity and efficiency, leads to economic development of the country. Accordingly, investigation of the status of the performance and efficiency of a bank will be influenced by the performance and efficiency of that bank’s branches. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficiency and ranking of 121 branches of a certain private bank in Tehran. For this purpose, first two-stage data envelope analysis has been used to obtain the efficiency of banks accurately using 7 indices as the input variable, 4 indices as the intermediate variable, and 1 index as the output variable. The results of the research indicated that in the first stage of the two-stage data envelope analysis, 51 branches were found to be efficient, which was reduced to 18 branches in the second stage. As the accurate efficiency of each branch was determined following two stages, for ranking the branches that had an efficiency of one, Sexton, Anderson-Peterson and Charnes-Cooper efficiency method was employed. In the last stage, using Borda technique, the results obtained from the previous models were combined and the final ranking of the bank’s branches was determined.

Since, in many cases, the decision-making units in organization have an intermediate (middle values) and also in some cases the real world, available values for inputs and outputs are obscure (ambiguous) and uncertain, and using classic data envelopment model does not reach us to a certain result. Also, return on the scale is a very important argument in data envelopment analysis and economics and can provide us with useful information about the status of the decision-maker units. In this paper, we present a new model for fuzzy two-stage data envelopment analysis and to evaluate this efficiency, we study the efficiency of industrial workshops between 10 and 49 employees. The efficiency of industrial workshops is evaluated by province. The results are the importance of the proposed model.

In addition, uncertainty is undeniable feature of the real world. For this purpose, in this paper, it is attempted to approach the reality by considering undesirable and fuzzy data simultaneously. Traditional DEA divides DMUs into efficient and inefficient, it is not able to rank DMUs completely, therefore, optimistic cross efficiency method is utilized to face with this defect and then the proposed multi-objective model is solved as a single-objective one applying Torabi-Hassini method. Finally, to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the model, a numerical example is used and the findings are compered.
